到猶他議會湊熱鬧

猶他參議員要提議支持中文課程的法案，繼續支持預算，特邀中文客座老師們到議會列席，會後特頒榮譽感謝狀一張。

進議會廳前，議員的助理用標準的中文稍微介紹一下情況。人家這個人只在巴黎（想想看要是我在什麼馬達加斯加島學英文兩年 還真不知會講出什麼英文）學過兩年中文，就講得嚇嚇叫，台灣的英文教育真的要檢討一下。

兩個中文班四年級的學生上台獻寶。講得真的很不錯。如果我的小孩學英文四年也可以講成這樣，還不必花我半毛錢，我也一定舉四腳繼續支持這個法案。

  
這個議員的小孩也上中文班，還有一個阿媽參議員（穿桃紅色上衣者）的孫子也上中文班，他講說他的孫子會教他講一下中文，但是每次他發出來的音都被他的孫子笑。我們班的家長也遇到相同的情況。小孩的聽力真的很好。有一次一個媽媽來教室辦活動，他問小孩十四中文怎麼說，家長跟著小孩repeat，但是他把四也一起捲舌，我們班小孩就說不對，再講一次給那個媽媽聽，那媽媽也根本聽不出來怎樣不同，所以也根本講不出來。他們在玩遊戲都用中文數數，小孩講一講，有個媽媽就說那個數字英文怎麼說，小孩突然熊熊想不出來，尷尬地笑一笑想一想後才說出來。小孩學語言真的很快。

 

 


右邊那位帥哥市議員的兒子，在北京住過幾年，也是講得一口流利中文，中間是議員，左邊是舌燦蓮花的議員助理。

會後有專人導覽市政廳。

Dear Chinese DLI Colleagues,

Our Chinese international guest teachers have been invited to the State Capitol on Thursday, February 28th where they will be introduced to the Utah Senate. A special reception with Senator Stephenson and several State Legislators will follow immediately after the close of Thursday's session, around 5:00PM. The teachers have been asked to be at the Capitol Rotunda no later than 3:15 where they will be met by Gregg Roberts and our two USOE Chinese DLI Immersion Coordinators, Tessa Dahl and He De.

I understand that many of the teachers do not drive and will need help getting to the Capitol building on Thursday, whether from an administrator or a host family. In these instances, the hosts that accompany them to the Capitol will also be invited to attend the special reception following the legislative session, with a request that no more than two people accompany a teacher. We hope that many of you are able to accompany your teachers so that you can take advantage of this great opportunity to meet with our Legislators and encourage them to support our immersion programs throughout the state.

I need to give our hosts at the Capitol an accurate number of those attending the reception. Please RSVP to me by February 27th, Wednesday, 8:00AM with the names of those that will be attending this important event.

We were given very short notice to prepare you and your teachers for this invitation and hope that it will not be too difficult for you to find classroom help for the end of the day on Thursday so that your teachers can make it to the Capitol. This is a special opportunity to highlight our immersion programs, and our Chinese international guest teachers, and we sincerely appreciate all your efforts to make it a success.
