四年級課程之認識猶他州This is the place

四年的的社會課課程是認識猶他州，因此每年四年級的老師都要準備一個小時又唱又跳的活動，小朋友藉此來認識他們所住的地方。每個學年的表演都是上午表演一次給全校學生看，下午表演一次給家長看。

猶他的歷史幾乎也就是摩門教的拓荒史，This is the place. 這句話就是摩門教的第二代教主楊百翰（歌詞中的Brigham Young）帶領摩門教徒，歷經千辛萬苦和磨難，穿過高山渡過大河，忍受寒冬冰雪，進入猶他谷地的第一句話。也從此開啓猶他歷史上新的一頁。

很多拓荒者跟隨楊百翰於十九世紀中期來到猶他州之後，就定居此地，我們學校所在的Draper算是鹽湖城的外圍城市，所以當年拓荒地區至此，而且一代傳一代沒有把“第一代祖”幾塊錢買下來的土地賣掉的話，今天可都是大地主。學校附近有很多大房子蓋在一塊大～～土地上，旁邊還蓋了幾間偏房和馬房，圍欄裡的巨大草地上養了些牛和馬。群山就在不遠處。每天看著藍天白雲高山，綠地豪宅牲畜，我想做夢也會笑吧。

這些“古代人”都是每個介紹同學的祖先，他們可還是用着他們所傳下來的姓（last name）呢。

這次的主題是：猶他州：a melting pot，猶他州跟美國其他州比較起來已經算是白人相當多的，早期的話那就更不用說了。後來的建設當然少不了華人，應該就是清朝末年那些到美國西部蓋鐵路的那群叫什麼的？？華工。

所以以順道來個舞龍穿場。
